Just dropped by to say hello after your little adventure with zeynep (in which I happened to take a small part).

jaynelsonmanela: my congratulations for the very gentlemanly manner you treated her, despite her behaviour.

nicolef42 (I prefer to answer here instead of the forum, so that we let that thread die and get buried as it deserves): The truth is that you shouldn’t have used zeynep’s post without her permission. To me, however, this was quite obviously an honest mistake that could have easily been settled in a more friendly manner – it does not make you a criminal, of course, and of course it does not justify zeynep’s going completely out of control.

By the way, today there’s a new “stealing” complaint:

Now this IS stealing: no reference to the original, no link, no nothing. Still, the person who complains did not flood that blog or the forum with ridiculous comments: just asked what to do.

jaynelsonmanela, the difference is that zeynep had a “Do Not Copy” on display. The YouTube videos are posted using the ‘embed’ feature, which clearly implies permission to share them (if someone doesn’t want that for his video, he asks for embedding to be disabled).

Naturally I agree with your essential point (and I’m glad it proves what I originally thought and wrote about you in the forum). I think any reasonable blogger is flattered if something he wrote is mentioned elsewhere with proper crediting, and realizes that this is actually good for his blog. You just had the bad luck to stumble on a very peculiar personality (to put it mildly).
